Washtenaw Co. Aviation Medical Examiners

A third-class medical exam is required for student and private pilots. There is no medical exam requirement for the sport pilot certificate.

A medical certificate requires an EKG initially at age 35 and at each exam at age 40 and older. An exception is the first-class exam that requires the EKG only once every twelve months, (i.e., at every other exam).

See the FAA's medical certification site for more information.
